The size at which pictures are downloaded from the camera varies with the method used.

Auto Download

  • Pictures shot with a non-NEF/NRW (RAW) option selected for image quality on the camera will be imported at a size of 2 megapixels when copied from the camera via auto download. Cameras that support 8 megapixel download offer a choice of 2 and 8 megapixels. In the latter case pictures are always downloaded at the selected size.
  • Pictures taken with an NEF/NRW (RAW) option selected for image quality on certain cameras may be saved in JPEG or HEIF format when transferred using auto download.

Manual Download

  • Before downloading selected photos and videos from the camera, you will be prompted to choose whether the pictures are to be downloaded at their original size or at a size of 2 megapixels. Cameras that support 8 megapixel download also offer a choice of 8 megapixels. Selecting 8 megapixels when transferring NEF (RAW) pictures taken with HLG chosen for tone mode on cameras that support tone-mode selection downloads a 2 megapixel HEIF copy.
  • Videos over 4 GB in size will be listed in the picture selection display but cannot be downloaded.
