Step 2: Launch NX Tether

Launch NX Tether as described below.

  • Windows: Double-click the NX Tether icon on the desktop.
  • macOS: Go to [Applications] and double-click the NX Tether icon in the “Nikon Software” folder.

Launching NX Tether from NX Studio

If NX Studio is installed on your computer, you will be able to launch NX Tether by selecting [Take Pictures Remotely with NX Tether] in the NX Studio [File] menu.

Nikon ID

You must sign in with your Nikon ID when you launch NX Tether for the first time. Follow the on-screen instructions to sign in.

  • When accessing the website of another service that uses the Nikon ID, you may be required to sign in with your Nikon ID even if you have already signed in to NX Tether with the same ID. The sign-in credentials for the website and NX Tether are maintained separately.
  • If you plan to use NX Tether offline, be sure to sign in while you have an internet connection. You can use NX Tether offline for 30 days after signing in. You can use NX Tether for another 30 days by re-launching it online.
  • To discontinue your use of Nikon ID, you must terminate the use of NX Tether. Select [Help] > [NX Tether Settings] to display the NX Tether settings page and follow the steps to complete the termination process.

Displaying Notification Dialogs When Launching NX Tether

  • Launching NX Tether displays a notification dialog if:

    • a new version of NX Tether software has been released or
    • a new version of Tether Profile has been released.
  • Be sure to update to the latest versions of NX Tether and Tether Profile. You can also view the notification dialog from the [Check for Updates] option in the [Help] menu.
