Step 2: Create an Album

Create albums for storage of pictures imported from the camera.

Creating Albums

Tapping the (new album) button at the bottom right corner of the album list displays album settings. Adjust settings for the new album and tap [Finish].

Album Settings

Albums can be named and import, IPTC, FTP upload, and other settings adjusted in the album settings display. The display contains the items listed below.

Album Name
Name the album.
Camera Import Settings
  • Import when camera connected: The operation performed when a camera is connected to the smart device via USB can be selected from [Ask before import], [Import], and [Do not import].
  • Pictures for import: The types of files imported can be selected from [All RAW and JPEG pictures], [All JPEG pictures], [Protected RAW and JPEG pictures], and [Protected JPEG pictures]. RAW pictures in formats other than NEF will not be imported.
  • Destination: Import pictures to [Internal memory (DCIM/Nikon/NMA)] or a [Specified folder]. Any folder can be chosen when [Specified folder] is selected.
IPTC Settings
  • Append IPTC data during import: Choose whether to add IPTC data automatically during import. Enabling this option displays an [IPTC presets] item under IPTC settings.

    • IPTC presets: Choose an IPTC preset for use with the new album. If there are no previously-saved presets to choose from, you can create one (0 Creating IPTC Presets).

FTP Upload Settings
  • Upload automatically after import: Choose whether to upload pictures to the FTP server automatically after import. Enabling this option displays [FTP server], [Auto straighten], and [Resize files (JPEG)] items under FTP upload settings.

    • FTP server: Choose an FTP server for upload. If there are no previously-saved server profiles to choose from, you can create one (0 Creating FTP Server Profiles).
    • Auto straighten: Choose whether pictures are straightened automatically before upload to the FTP server. Pictures will be straightened automatically before upload when this option is on. The straightened picture is not saved to the album in NX MobileAir.
    • Resize files (JPEG): Choose whether pictures are automatically resized before upload to the FTP server. If you opt to resize pictures, you will be given a choice of compression ratios and pixel counts.

Cautions: Resizing Pictures

  • NEF (RAW) pictures will not be resized.
  • The resized copies are stored solely on the destination FTP server. The NX MobileAir album stores only the unresized originals.
  • Resize options are also available during manual upload (0Step 5: Upload the Pictures to the FTP Server). The size chosen in the album settings display does not apply during manual upload.
Picture Analysis

Choose whether pictures are automatically analyzed using deep-learning techniques during import. Enable [Analyze on import] to analyze pictures during import. A greater range of criteria are available for filtering pictures to which analysis has been applied (0Filtering Pictures).

For Faster Import

Enabling [Analyze on import] slows import. Disable [Analyze on import] for faster import.
