Updating the Firmware for GP-N100

Thank you for choosing a Nikon product. This guide describes how to update the firmware for the GP‑N100. If you are not confident that you can perform the update successfully, the update can be performed by a Nikon-authorized service representative.
See the manual provided with your Nikon product for information on use.


Important
The product may be damaged if disconnected from the computer during the update. Do not disconnect the USB cable while the update is in progress. If the update is not completed successfully and the product becomes inoperable, take it to a Nikon-authorized service representative for inspection.


Get ready.

  To perform the update, you will need:
The GP‑N100
The USB cable supplied with the GP‑N100
A computer to which the latest version of the GP‑N100 Utility has been installed (the GP‑N100 Utility and installation instructions can be downloaded from http://nikonimglib.com/gpn100u/)
An Internet connection


Check the current firmware version.

  1 After turning the computer on and waiting for it to start up, connect the GP-N100 using the supplied USB cable.
 
 
2 Launch the GP-N100 Utility and select Update Firmware in the Function menu.
 
 
3 A file-selection dialog will be displayed, with the current firmware version listed as shown (if the current firmware version is not displayed, update to the latest version of the GP-N100 Utility). Confirm that the current firmware version is the correct version for this update.

Click Cancel to close the file-selection dialog.



Download and extract the new firmware.

  1 Create a new folder on your computer.
 
2 Right-click the I agree - Begin download link on the download site and select Save Target As. Save the file to the folder created in Step 3-1.
 
3 Open the folder created in Step 3-1 and double-click the downloaded file (“F-GPN100-V####W.exe”, where “####” is the firmware version) to extract the firmware to a sub-folder in the new folder.
 
The resulting file and folder hierarchy is shown below:


Update the firmware.

  Important
Do not disconnect the USB cable during the update. Failure to observe this precaution could cause product malfunction.
 
1 After turning the computer on and waiting for it to start up, connect the GP-N100 using the supplied USB cable.
 
 
2 Launch the GP-N100 Utility and select Update Firmware in the Function menu.
 
 
3 A file-selection dialog will be displayed. Click Browse and navigate to the file you downloaded in Step 3. Select the file and click Open to return to the file-selection dialog.
 
 
4 Click OK to begin the update.
 
5 Click OK when the update is complete.
 
 
6 Select Update Firmware in the Function menu and confirm that the update was completed successfully. If the update was not successful, contact a Nikon service representative.
 
This completes the firmware update.
