To upgrade the camera firmware, you will need: |

For the camera equipped with Mass Storage, choosing Mass Storage from USB option allows you to connect the camera to the computer by using the USB cable. |

All data in memory card get erased when it is initialized. Please copy all necessary data in the card (e.g. in the computer) before initializing the memory card. |

Download and extract the Optional Picture Controls |

Right-click an empty area of the desktop and select New > Folder from
the menu that appears. Name the folder as desired. |

Click the I agree - Begin download link on the download site and download the optional picture controls to the folder created in Step -1. |

When the downloaded .exe file is double clicked it will get automatically extracted.

A dialog similar to that shown at right will be displayed; click OK. In Windows Vista, a “User Account Control” dialog will then be displayed; click Allow. |

When the files are extracted, a folder by the name “NIKON” is created. Please, confirm that inside the “NIKON” folder that there is the optional picture controls (“.NOP”) file.

Copy the Picture Controls to a memory card |
| |
To copy the optional picture controls to memory card, a computer is used. |

Insert the already formatted memory card into card reader connected to the computer. |

If Nikon Transfer is installed, it will start automatically; to exit, select Exit from the File menu. |

Windows Vista
Under Windows Vista, an AutoPlay dialog may be displayed. Click . |

Windows XP
Under Windows XP, a Removable Disk dialog may be displayed. Click Cancel. |

The camera will appear in “Computer” (Windows Vista) or “My Computer” (Windows
XP) as a removable disk. Copy the “NIKON” folder created in Step -3 to the removable disk. |

Important
Copy the “NIKON” folder directly to the top (root) level of the removable disk. The camera will not recognize the optional Picture Controls if the “NIKON” folder is inside another folder. |

| Once the copying has finished, open the “NIKON” folder and check that “.NOP” files are all copied. |

The number of exposures remaining will decrease when optional picture controls are copied to the memory card. |

Ejecting the memory card from the card reader. Right click on the “Removable Disk” icon. Select Eject and remove the memory card. |

Copy the Picture Controls to the camera |
